Seeking a WordPress alternative

I've been using WordPress as long as there's been WordPress, with only a single excursion elsewhere. Twenty-three years. When WordPress started, it was intended for bloggers. You could post words and pictures and links, and build a nice looking website. If you were mildly savvy,

So Long Metaverse

The time finally came. I left the Metaverse; Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and Threads are in my rearview mirror. When I first joined Facebook, back when Facebook was all shiny and new, it was a vastly different place than it is now. The community was fresh and friendly and excited. The

And Now For Something Completely Different (Again)

I'm not going to talk a lot about this here, but as you probably know, I have more than a passing interest in model trains. I've started a new project, and decided to document it. I'll be doing that on YouTube, and started a

My friend Kevin sent me a link this morning to a video on YouTube; Procol Harum's Whiter Shade of Pale illustrated by AI. The creator of the video had used MidJourney to create all the images, and had created an image for each line of the song.

Five Years Gone

... despite a bump in the road here and there, playing in 7Souls has been the absolute best band experience I have ever had and I think the world of every member, present and past. It truly has been an experience that I wouldn't trade for anything.

GerenM's Lite Pasta Surprise

I found this on the wayback machine at archive.org today -- my own recipe for a pasta dinner. It's one of the earliest posts from any version of gerenm.net that's archived there. The date was October 3, 2002. Ingredients: One can diced tomatoes (or, substitute
